Bluebonnet Road Trip

The weekend before last, we set out in search of bluebonnets. It was a little dicey packing for a day out on the way to church, but after service and the requisite stop at Sonic (slushy for Alastair, DVC for me) we headed out of town. The bluebonnets weren't really out yet in full force, but we did find a few patches that worked well enough for our annual photos.

This year Emery was stepping daintily through the flowers, actually being careful not to step on any. Last year she was barely sitting up for short stretches.

Her brother was in full squirrel mode and had to reminded repeatedly not to trample them. Doesn't he look innocent though?

I am really loving having one child that will work with me for my mommy photo opps.

Most of the time. I also love the annual meltdown capture.

Got one of them together!

Watch out (international modeling sensation) Ryan Weatherwax. Emery's building her book.

Alastair's favorite: a rusty old truck will always bring a smile.

We left the house around 9 and got back sometime after 6. It was a fun and tiring day for all of us, but there is something so very "Kim and I" about throwing some snacks in the car and heading out in search of adventure. The only sad part is that apparently, Blue Bell isn't open that late on Sundays. We were lucky enough that Alastair was totally oblivious to anything but his movie on the ride back. Thankfully he was just as happy to get ice cream at home!
