All about Emery

Last week marked the beginning of Emery's fourth month. She has been a very busy girl! Two weeks ago, she started rolling over like a champ, although she does occasionally get herself stuck on her stomach and needs a little help getting sorted. We broke out one of two exersaucers we have (seriously, at some point I wonder if we will be able to walk with all these huge toys in here). She is still a little short for it, but really enjoys the different vantage point. Emery decided those milestones weren't quite enough and cut her first tooth last week as well.

Overall, Emery is a really easygoing baby, although we have to be careful not to let her get overtired. She has a really hard time settling down if that happens. Otherwise, she eats well and sleeps well (7:30 or 8 pm to 7:30 am with nary a squeak or squawk in the night). She studies everything happening around her and is quick with a smile for Daddy, Alastair, and I.

We all thought that her hair would fall out in her first few months, but aside from a bit of a bald spot in back from sleeping on her back, that hasn't happened. Instead, there seems to be new growth and it is a auburn color, not dark brown or black. We're curious to see what color it ends up by the end of the summer.

Emery has many names in our house: Em or Emmie are the most common. Alastair still calls her "the little guy" occasionally, but has settled on Em-Em or Little Em for right now. He wants to know where she is and in the morning when I go into her room to get her he always says, "Let's go see what Em-Em is up to." We also call her Be-Bop, which Alastair has really taken a liking to.

**Do not adjust the color on your monitor. There really is this much pink in our house.**

The many faces of Emery:
Happy

Really happy. Or just showing off her cute face.

What are you doing? I'm not sure I am amused.

Checking it out.

Asleep.

Alastair: "After this, can I go outside?"

So happy together. ("When you're with me, baby the skies will be blue for all my life...")

At her four month checkup, Emery was in the fiftieth percentile for height, weight, and head circumference (23.5", 13 pounds 10 ounces, and 16", respectively). Dr. Bootin told me, "she's perfect. Just perfect." Couldn't have said it better myself.
