Pure Joy
Alastair has been looking forward to visiting Granny and Grandad for months. Ever since Granny and GiGi came to visit when that wonderful/pesky sister arrived and they came without his favorite member of that family: Grandad. This trip was actually scheduled to occur two weeks earlier but on the scheduled date of departure, his mom woke up with a 103 degree fever and we had to call it off. It was not a fun weekend for any of us, especially his mother, who in addition to having a fever and feeling less than delightful, was also treated to a three year old screaming/crying "Get up Mommy! Get up! We have to go to Grandad's!" followed by more crying and general hysteria. Two weekends ago, we finally hit the road.
Emery is a champion car rider and Alastair is a happy man as long as he has the occasional movie to keep him entertained. However, between packing up what feels like the entire household for the weekend and stopping every 2-2.5 hours to feed Emery, it took an eternity to get there and back again.
Some highlights from the weekend:

Emery got to meet Grandad for the first time. Like Alastair, she thought he was pretty cool, although she'll have to wait awhile for her ride in the golf cart.

Reunited with the Granny Brigade.
We really enjoy hanging out by the river, letting Alastair and Boudreaux wear themselves out.

A little cuddle time; it was pretty cold. Emery ended up in my sweatshirt shortly after these shots were taken.

Our beautiful little girl reserves this look of total adoration for one person: her big brother. Emery's favorite people in descending order: Mommy (there is at least one person on Team Mommy!), Alastair, then Daddy. Poor Daddy. He is firmly on the favorite's list, but it is hard to compete with a zany three year old.

Alastair making his sister crack up, which he is really good at.
The weather was warmer during the day and we took Alastair to throw rocks in the river, which Boudreaux was convinced he could retrieve. The insane dog refused to chase sticks at all, but delightedly chased sinking rocks. Alastair about wore himself out picking up acorns with all the huge oak trees everywhere and ran up and down the long hill to the house about fifty times. And Emery was a very happy baby with all the cuddling and canoodling she received. Overall, it was a very successful weekend.
