Rodeo Redux

It's blog catch up week at Planet Bowling, also known as anti-procrastination week!  Early spring is a busy time with rodeo, bluebonnets, Easter, and camping.  That all results in a sickening amount of self-indulgent photography to share here.

Our first rodeo outing was a family day.  The weather was awesome and we had a parking pass so it was enjoyable all around.  Alastair's favorite part was getting to see the Raptor, which he calls the "Rafter" suspended from a column in the Ford booth.  Emery, child of my heart, liked seeing the "horsies" the best.  Coming soon:  a t-shirt that says "Daddy, I want a pony."

We also made time for a smaller moms night out this year on the Monday of Spring Break to see Zac Brown Band.  Alastair now tells Kim, "Guess what?  Mommy has a boyfriend!" whenever the boys come on the radio.

While the kids were out for Spring Break, I met up with a friend to take in the sights with fewer crowds.  Boy, did we miss the mark on that!  The year before last I accidentally took the kids during half price day.  The horror.  This year we went the day after, reasoning that the crowds would have abated by then.  Not a chance.  There was record attendance all around this year and my goal for next year is to arrive at the crack of dawn and hopefully on a day it is raining.  If there is hail and possibly a hurricane in the forecast, all the better.

The kids enjoyed themselves in spite of it all.

The highlight was the pony ride.

 Emery, looking quite the cowgirl.

I keep telling Kim that if we have any more kids it really would be cheaper to just get another horse with the high cost of pony rides.  Really, it would be economizing.
