Easter weekend we made our annual pilgrimage to Chapel Hill and Independence to see the bluebonnets. This has become an annual tradition that includes bringing home a few more antique roses from the Antique Rose Emporium and a stop at Blue Bell to appreciate what they do best.
Ta-Da. As motivation, ice cream works.
Alastair looked forward to picking flowers almost as much as eating ice cream.
We told him, "pick any one that you would like, as long as it isn't blue." He held this Indian Paintbrush the entire way home.
Emery was determined to make Bluebonnets her first solid food.
She almost got away with it too.
I've been trying for this shot for three years now.
Emery has precious little regard for the Texas state law prohibiting the picking of bluebonnets. We had to police her carefully. One of our favorite spots for wildflower pictures is just past Independence at the site of the old Baylor Woman's College. There is a gorgeous field, old building, and huge oak trees. From one of these trees hangs an old rope swing, which was the best part of the day for Alastair.

These pictures are beautiful!
