For dinner, we made turkey (22 pounds! It was the smallest one at the store), homemade cranberry sauce, Pioneer Woman's no-knead rolls, fresh green beans, apple bacon stuffing, and gravy. And the aforementioned pie and "cinnamon things." Made from the leftover pie crust, these are probably better than everything else put together. Growing up, these caused a fight when my brother or I were perceived to be eating more than our share. Of course, after all that cooking and cleaning, we ran out of appetite and energy before we got to the pie. Apple Pie tastes great for breakfast.

Thankful Hearts
With a new beautiful baby in the house, we had plenty to be thankful for this year. The weekend was surprisingly busy between cooking a feast on Thanksgiving Day and shopping up a storm on Black Friday. I went out this year with my pal Emily and we shopped from 4 am to around 12 pm, finishing up with a hearty breakfast at Cracker Barrell.
On Thanksgiving, Kim and Alastair sliced up the apples I bought at Central Market. Imported from New York, these apples are the best available in Texas without paying for shipping. The red whirligig the boys are using was purchased when we lived in California. In my book, there are few kitchen gadgets that justify the space they occupy. I make room for this one. It rocks.
