Rodeo insanity (ahem) season is upon us in Houston and at the Bowling house, we too have climbed aboard the hay wagon. Here we are at the HLSR in the petting zoo where Alastair discovered goats. He liked "petting" a rabbit (more like parent supervised grabbing) and was very interested in the chickens. Of course we know this makes him a baby genius, as he obviously recognizes all these critters from his farmyard series of books. In our busiest post-baby week to date, we welcomed Kristin and Scott from California to Texas. From Wednesday to Saturday, we went to Lupe's, the Alan Jackson concert, rock climbing, horseback riding, and Kristin even got to go to Alastair's six month checkup. Who says we don't know how to show a guest a good time?
Here is Alastair, ears buffered from the racket of those infernal chuck wagon races... And the indoor fireworks... And the concert... Standing by and ready to fill in as air traffic control as needed.

In other news, the little man is up to just over 17 pounds now and 25.75 inches. He is still working his way through stage one solids and hates avacado. The jury is still out on sweet potatoes... He is getting more steady by the day at sitting up and has mastered the art of taking a pacifier, turning it around, and getting it in his own mouth. The current favorite pastime is removing his socks and slurping on his toes. We think it must be an acquired taste...
Here with "Aunt" Kristin:
