Naked babies rock, don't you think?The Stats:
16 pounds 14 ounces
27" long
Emery is nine months old. In the last month, she has learned to sit up on her own (July 4th) and this week figured out how to pull herself up to standing. Kim and I looked at each other and in unison said "uh-oh." She currently has seven teeth that have erupted and one that will probably be up in the next few days. That is four teeth in one month for our little teething monster. Emmie has been a little moody on occasion, but all these teeth have yet to affect her sleeping or eating thankfully.
Emery loves music. When she hears a song or her brother and I singing, she rocks and bobs along with a big smile on her face. She also tries to clap her hands when someone is clapping. This is adorable as she slaps at each of her hands in an endearing (and spastic) fashion.

Big brother is still tops in Emmie's book for fun and interaction. Alastair and she talk back and forth in the car ("ba ba ba ba! mmmna da baba!") and make raspberries at each other. Another fun game is "Sonic." Alastair drives up in his Cozy Coupe, places his order, and the carhop (with Mommy's aid) brings out his fruit slush. Emery loves to hold onto the door of the car and has even gotten to take a spin with her brother a few times. I have a feeling this is going to be a real source of conflict when she is more mobile. For now, the Sonic game is a favorite for both of them.
Emery has also perfected her lightening fast reflexes for grabbing things she isn't supposed to have. She waits until our attention is diverted for just a second and strikes with viper like speed to snatch up tiny (and previously undiscovered) objects and stuff them in her mouth. So far, I have pulled out a nickle, a button (where did it come from?!?), a spool of floss, and a tiny hard hat (a rogue toy that survived the great choking hazard relocation). It is a tense situation around here.
{Side note to grandparents and relatives who might be buying Alastair presents: anything with parts small enough for his sister to choke on will live in the attic until she outgrows this stage. Alastair relocates half the house on a daily basis and there is no way to keep his toys segregated. Something to keep in mind.}
Alastair: this boy has the best imagination.In addition to the Sonic game, Alastair and Emery "wash" his car together as well. He brings it over and tells her to work on the tires (which she can do from her belly crawling position) and he works on the engine. They also enjoy playing drums together and love swinging in the backyard.
Alastairism of the month: he has rewritten the "we will rock you" song/chant. If you happen to pop by our house these days, you may be treated to "we will, we will WATCH YOU! WATCH YOU!" I admire the spirit of creativity, but it is a bit creepy...
